Christmas scrapbooking is an easy and fun way to create a log of memories of certain functions, milestones etc. The greatest advantage of having a scrapbook is that by keeping all things in one place, under one book, you can flip back to the past, whenever you want. You could re live your memories, the events that have happened, your first birthday etc and even get inspired to what to put in it, in the future! Christmas scrapbooks are a personalized Christmas craft and can be shared with a close friend or a close family member. For example, this Christmas you can make your mother a scrapbook, putting in pictures of you and her, together, on various occasions. This would certainly make her very happy. If you do not have the money to buy an expensive Christmas gift hamper, then substituting it with a homemade Christmas scrapbook is a great idea. It will be a very sentimental gift for your recipient, whoever it may be.

Christmas Scrapbook Ideas:

There are so many ideas which you can use for making a scrapbook, and if you are making one which is specifically meant for the Christmas occasion, then a pretty great idea for this will be to use pictures and bits pieces from the previous Christmas events. Most people, take a lot of pictures on Christmas eve, the Christmas service, Christmas dinner, etc Some even record everything on video. You are more than likely to find old photos from Christmas events, buried in a box, hiding in a basement. Retrieve that box and make good use of those old pictures by organizing them in a scrapbook.

Photos are singlehandedly the most important part of a scrapbook and when it comes to Christmas, you are more than likely to have many, many pictures. Obviously, you cannot put all of them in one scrapbook, so selecting the right pictures is also very important. Select those pictures in which the Christmas spirits is most prominent. For example, use pictures of your children sitting in Santa’s lap, use pictures of your own childhood where you are unwrapping Christmas gifts, use pictures of old Christmas trees which you decorated etc. If you have way too many Christmas pictures, try not to include pictures with the same things happening in them. If you include the picture of every Christmas tree which you have decorated then that may not leave enough room for you to include other pictures.

However, creating picture collages is an easy way to include many pictures, which take the space of just one picture. Quite a few picture editing applications are available online, which allow you to create collages, just install them, scan your Christmas pictures and get to work. Some applications even have patterns and designs which you can use to further decorate your picture collage. When you are done, print them and use them in your scrapbook. Start with covering the scrapbook in wrapping paper. Since, it is going to be Christmas scrapbook, use papers which have Christmas related patterns on them. For example, wrapping paper with Christmas trees, snowmen, Santa Claus, elves etc are just some of the options you may consider. Save some of the wrapping paper for later from which you will be making the borders for your pictures. To make your scrapbook have that special Christmas feel to it, you can use covers or wrappers of Christmas hampers and even Christmas gift baskets and use those as scrapbook covers.

For strengthening the edge of the scrapbook, use ribbons. They will look super cute while holding your scrapbook in place. You do not have to just include Christmas photos in your scrapbook; you can use a variety of other things as well, like previous Christmas cards and paste those, too, in your scrapbook. Another fun idea of decorating your scrapbook is to use a mosaic of pictures and letters.

On some papers of the Christmas scrapbook, you can even write things like your Christmas family traditions and some of the really fun times you have spent with your family while carrying those traditions out. If you want you can use different colored gel pens, or felt markers with small tips to make your font stand out more. Or you may just stick to an ink pen, again it is your scrapbook, use whatever you think is most suitable. You can even get in touch with your uncles and aunties and ask them to send their collection of old Christmas photos, it may be that they may be having some pictures which you may not be having. And they might even give you a few ideas of their own which you can add to your Christmas scrapbook.

You can even make quote bubbles in your scrapbook, in which you can write famous quotes or simple sentimental or even hilarious Christmas poems, which go well with your theme. Another great scrapbook idea is that instead of using a regular scrapbook, you can even use a photo album for scrapbooking. Photo albums are much more durable than scrapbooks, so you can consider them as an option as well.

You can turn your Christmas scrapbooking project into a family project, too. You can encourage everyone in your family to put in their share of Christmas memories into the scrapbooks. If possible, give a few pages of the scrapbook to every family member, in which they can put their part of the scrapbook.

Other than pictures and old Christmas greeting cards, you can put other ‘mementos’ as well. For example, a specific Christmas poem which you have always been very fond of, or the picture of the Christmas tree which you or your child drew, when they were very little. Anything which has even a bit of sentimental value related to Christmas, can be put in a Christmas themed scrapbook.

Christmas Scrapbook Layouts:

Scrapbooks are personal expressions which are of great help in remembering events through photos, collages and other memorabilia. Since each person is blessed with his own perception, his own outlook, his own likes and dislikes, likewise, each scrapbook will also be different from one another. People who are really committed to making the perfect scrapbook can spend hours on it, creating beautiful pages to capture just one single moment. The reason why they do is, is quite simple, scrapbooking is such a project which not only gives you joy when you are done with it, but it also offers you a free trip down the memory lane, so just making scrapbook, alone, is quite fun.
For the perfect scrapbook, people spend hours in searching for the perfect layout which would complement their pictures. There are many sources which you can turn to for scrapbook layout ideas, following are just some of the ideas to get you going:

First of all it is important that you get it straight that which feeling do you overall want to create, through your scrapbook, or through a single page of that scrapbook. Depending on that, you will choose the picture, and the layout. For example, if the picture is of a baby who is wearing a Santa Claus hat and is sleeping, you do not want the layout of the page to be too loud. Instead, look for a them, which will complement your story which you are trying to tell through your pictures.

When you have way too much material on your hand, it is easy to get carried away. A lot of Christmas stickers and glitter and ribbons etc would look really pretty, but if you overdo it, it will look too heavy and will take the focus away from your photos, which should be the object of dominance. Less is better, when it comes to decorating the scrapbook.

If you are looking for a great scrapbook layout idea for Christmas, then use this one. Your theme is ‘christmas’ and on one particular page of the scrapbook, you are going to show how different members of the family are preparing Christmas cookies. Now, you are going to take pictures of your family and relatives where they can be seen rolling out the cookie dough, cutting them using cookie cutters, decorating them, placing them in the oven for baking purpose etc. Once you have collected all the pictures, now you will decide which color to be placed as a background for those pictures. Use bright colored cardstock, for example, red and place it on the scrapbook page.

The next step is to create border for that page, use a color which goes well with ‘red’, for example green. Use a thing dark green ribbon for creating a border, first for the page and then for the photographs as well. If you want to keep things simple, stop here. However, if you want to decorate this particular scrapbook page further, here is what you will do. Take a cookie cutter, and trace the shape of the cookie cutter onto the cardstock. You have just made yourself a paper cookie! Decorate the paper cookie using glitter and then glue them onto the scrapbook page. Again, remember not to go overboard with the decoration. Keep it simple, like just 2-3 paper cookies glued to the page are enough. Other than paper cookies, you can even write the recipe of cookies on a piece of paper, decorate it and glue it onto the page. To give it a more authentic look, crumple the paper and crease it over and over to make it look like a well used recipe.
